Give your soccer ball a better life between games
Simple storage and maintenance habits for the ball you already own.

A practice ball spends much more time between sessions than in a game. A few consistent habits make it easier to show up with equipment that is ready to use.
Read before you inflate
Use the pressure range printed on the ball or specified by its manufacturer. Do not borrow a number from a different model. A pump with a gauge makes the setting repeatable; use the needle as instructed rather than forcing it into the valve at an angle.
Before a team purchase, ask the coach which ball size and specification are needed. A label that says match ball does not tell you whether it is the right choice for that age group or competition.
Clean without improvising
Follow the care instructions for the cover material. Remove loose dirt after play and let the ball dry before putting it away. Avoid deciding that a stronger household cleaner must be better: the manufacturer’s guidance should settle what is suitable.
Store the ball away from prolonged heat and direct sunlight. Give it a quick check before the next session, looking at the valve, seams and surface. If it loses pressure repeatedly or shows damage, investigate before relying on it for a game.
Keep a useful record
For a team, label equipment in a way the supplier permits and record what is handed out. Knowing which ball belongs to whom is often more useful than buying another one because the last one disappeared into a shared equipment bag.
